Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Senior Accounting and Administration Consultant role is to provide and maintain accurate financial records in the accounting system; complete assigned deliverables; complying with accounting and audit procedures; administering benefits and payroll related assignments.
This role reports to the Director of Finance & Administration.
Essential Functions
- Administers accounting activities (e.g. payroll, benefits, procurement card administration etc.) for the purpose of monitoring expenditures and reconciling activities.
- Analyzes systems, policies and/or procedures for the purpose of improving business practices and efficiencies.
- Attend workshops, in-service training, meetings, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and maintaining professional development.
- Audits fiscal documents and information for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and conformity with regulations and contract requirements.
- Compiles statistical and financial data from a variety of sources for the purpose of providing information and/or ensuring compliance with established regulations.
- Coordinates with other staff for the purpose of completing assigned duties accurately and in a timely manner.

- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing to ensure timely processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions.
- Maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents, files and records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference, reconciliation, budget management, and compliance audits.
- Oversees and monitors assigned activities for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial, legal, administrative, budget and contract requirements.
- Managing cash flow, documenting activities, conveying information and complying with state and federal regulations.
- Research discrepancies of financial information and documentation for the purpose of ensuring accurate and complete subsidiary and general ledger accounts.
- Responds to a variety of inquiries from a variety of sources for the purpose of providing information or direction related to accounting and administration procedures.
- Serves as a liaison with external parties as assigned (e.g. King County, various banks, actuaries, state auditors, investment advisors, etc.) for the purpose of providing necessary information and documentation.
- Supervises personnel (e.g., provide coaching and consultation on technical issues, adaptive challenges, personnel matters, strategic opportunities, career goals, professional development, job performance, etc.) for the purpose of advancing the development of effective leaders and high performing teams and achieving organization and departmental objectives.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department.
- Use of personal vehicle and occasional travel may be required.

Responsibility
Responsibilities include working under limited supervision following standardized practices and methods; leading, guiding, and coordinating others; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other departments is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
