We are seeking innovative, experienced, decisive professional claims adjusters on our moving and storage program to handle commercial auto and general liability claims across the nation. This is a work from home opportunity.

The position also involves building relationships with insureds, brokers, agents, attorneys, and insurance carriers. The adjuster will also present oral and written quarterly file presentations to the broker and insurance carrier with their plans and recommendations.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain full compliance with applicable department of insurance regulations and fair claims practices in each State.

  • Ensure that claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.

  • Review and analyze coverage, including applicable endorsements and exclusions to determine if any coverage issues exist. Report all potential coverage issues.

  • Obtain the bill of lading to review operating authority and policy endorsements to determine whether the insured's policy or the vanliner's policy will apply as primary.

  • Draft reservation of rights letters, coverage disclaimer letters, and tender letters for review and approval by the carrier.

  • Comply with Company Best Practices Guidelines, Carrier Best Practices and MGA Best Practices in regards to claim handling.

  • Conduct thorough coverage, liability, and damage investigations in accordance with Company Best Practices.

  • Set accurate reserves with documented rationale for the value.

  • Complete timely evaluations and initiate settlement negotiations.

  • Handle files involving catastrophic damages in accordance with our Catastrophic Guidelines.

  • Complete periodic claim reports.

  • Investigation include Interviewing and taking statements from insured's, claimants, witnesses. Investigate loss details as required, including obtaining all relevant documents such as police reports, public records, Bills Of Lading, lease agreements, contacts, releases, Proof of Loss, etc.

  • Assign claims to outside appraiser and/or adjuster with instructions for investigation and evaluation as needed.

  • Review reports from adjusters and/or appraiser and evaluate, make judgments and formulate action plans to carry claim to final disposition.

  • Manage litigated files to conclusion. This includes, but is not limited to; assigning counsel, managing counsel assigned to the case in connection with our Litigation Guidelines and handling all attorney assigned files in connection with our Best Practices.

  • Secure all required closing documents from the insured, claimant, lien holder or other parties as needed. This includes releases, dismissal entries, proofs of loss, etc.

  • Ensure Claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Oversee selling salvage on total loss items, as needed.

  • Identify files with subrogation potential and refer files to Subrogation Representative for evaluation and pursuit of potential subrogation claim.

  • Document file activity notes and prepare written reports and letters as required.

  • Consistently maintain a current file diary.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, strong keyboard skills; typing speed and accuracy

  • Above average verbal and written communication skills

  • Interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and take directions from several sources

  • Customer service oriented

  • The ability to work in a team environment

Requirements

  • 5+ years claims experience or equivalent combination in commercial auto and general liability.

  • Candidate with prior moving & Storage, trucking, or non-trucking liability experience is preferred.

  • Required to hold an Independent Adjuster's license in candidate's resident State, apply for all reciprocal State licenses within 90 days of employment, and test for and obtain all non-reciprocal licenses within one year of employment.

  • If the candidate is not licensed in their resident State, then the candidate will be required to apply for and pass any required test to obtain their resident license within 60 days of employment.

Salary

Disclosure required under applicable state or municipality regulations: The expected salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope and level.
