Associate Actuary

Responsible for leading the actuarial rate making function and providing analytical support for corporate-wide business activities and decisions.

  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of property/casualty actuarial experience
  • (ACAS) in the Casualty Actuarial Society required.
  • Responsible for leading the rate making process, including rate indications, risk classification, rating plan design, and competitor analysis.
  • Collaborates with other functional areas to execute rate reviews and gain regulatory approval for rate filings.
  • Provides actuarial thought leadership by researching and advocating for applicable and appropriate techniques, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Creates a high performing team of engaged employees, including coaching and giving feedback, delegating and managing workflow, and monitoring and evaluating performance.
  • Supports corporate operational planning by producing premium and loss projections.
  • Provides technical and analytical assistance to other functional areas in support of corporate goals.
  • Assists with statistical reporting to regulatory organizations and corporate partners.
  • Continues professional development to maintain actuarial credentials.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of actuarial rate making techniques, especially for catastrophe-exposed personal and commercial property lines of business.
  • Thorough knowledge of reserving techniques and basic accounting principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry data sources and tools.
  • Solid history of working effectively with regulators.

 Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A/B.S.) required – preferably in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of property/casualty actuarial experience.
  • Solid history of working effectively with regulators.

Licenses/Designations:

  • (ACAS) in the Casualty Actuarial Society required.
