Position Summary:

Fully responsible for the investigation, analysis, evaluation, negotiation and resolution of complex, high exposure governmental tort and civil rights claims and litigation through strong technical expertise and complex analysis.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Learn, understand and apply the Georgia Tort Claims Act and related insurance coverage.

Must have or secure and maintain appropriate Georgia state adjuster license and continuing education credits.

Proactively manage assigned claims; including investigation, coverage review, setting and implementing case strategy within guidelines, issuance of coverage letters as necessary, participate in insured and defense counsel meetings, large loss presentation meetings with the client, mediation attendance and maintain a high level of productivity, confidentiality and customer service.

Partner with defense attorneys in setting and pursuing effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies for complex claims in litigation.

Review and analyze contracts, leases, and identify risk transfer opportunities and excess carrier reportable claims.

Required Skills, Key Competencies and Experience:

A minimum of 10 years Commercial General Liability, litigation experience. While this position does involve general premises and auto liability claims, this senior litigation specialist position requires experience in civil rights, governmental entity claims. Experience in medical malpractice claims a plus.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication and group presentation skills.

Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.

Identify necessary avenues of investigation at the outset of a claim and be proactive in pursuing such.

Demonstrate the ability to think critically and anticipate, recognize, identify and develop solutions to problems in a timely manner.

Ability to negotiate skillfully in difficult situations with both internal and external groups.

Demonstrate strong understanding of applicable statutes, regulations and case law.
