Umialik Insurance Company, a member of the Western National Insurance Group, is seeking an energetic individual who will assist our Underwriting Team in profitable premium growth. Key responsibilities include policy processing and technical support for both new and renewal business. This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska, and the individual who fills this position will operate under a designated level of authority while creating strong agency relationships.
Responsibilities
- Assists underwriters in the daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions.
- Uses established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority level.
- Makes decisions and recommendations for varied situations while applying judgement to interpret related information, policies, and procedures.
- Applies knowledge to help solve problems of relatively limited scope and complexity.
- Communicates with assigned agencies and underwriters, creating and delivering varied types of messages and information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance or finance, or equivalent related experience.
- AU and/or INS certification preferred.
- Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and solve basic problems.
- Strong negotiation and relationship building skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time well.
- Proven analytical skills.
