Western National has an exciting opportunity to join our Claims team as a Claims Representative with our Auto Claims Unit. This highly visible and important role will allow the right candidate to work with our customers in the claims handling process.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of auto claims experience with strong communication, time management, and analytical skills.
This role has flexibility for a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
- Handles high volume, low to moderate complexity liability claims within settlement authority.
- Ensures customer service excellence.
- Investigates and reviews policy forms, facts and documents related to claims to make appropriate decisions on claims resolution.
- Establishes and reviews proper reserves for each claim based upon thorough investigation, evaluation, and experience, maintaining appropriate reports to ensure current status of claims are clearly documented at all times.
- Deals with moderately complex problems that must be broken down into manageable pieces.
- Utilizes knowledge, experience and available resources to resolve claims.
- Participates in development of improvements and helps implement change.
- Contacts customers (insureds, claimants, agents) and employees across the organization regularly.
- Provides direction to outside vendors and partners.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of handling claims required.
- Focus on auto claims preferred.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office applications and other systems daily.
- Understanding of industry practices, standards, and claim concepts.
- Able to multitask and solve problems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Sound business judgment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
- Working toward AIC, AINS or CPCU certification is preferred.
