Position Summary
This position will be responsible for the analysis and testing of data development projects from inception to implementation. Responsibilities will include full business and data analysis, working with Stakeholders and developers on development and testing, and coordination of deployment. This Data Analyst should be accustomed to a professional environment and possess two to five years business and systems experience preferably in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry. The individual should be able to use prior knowledge of systems applications, data flow and design, and business processes to evaluate potential issues, elicit and document business requirements, develop and execute test plans, and drive resolution of any problems. This position will have some degree of overlap with software systems as they pertain to the creation or usage of the business data. Work flow will follow an Agile methodology, utilizing both Kanban and Scrum techniques.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with business Stakeholders to understand scope and document requirements for data requests, reporting changes, and new data projects
- Coordinate user story creation for the Kanban and Scrum boards
- Perform analysis of change specifications and create acceptance criteria for the developer team to follow
- Participate in backlog grooming and sprint planning for the data developer team
- Manage Kanban board items to ensure they are moving to the appropriate status as they go through development
- Work with developers to ensure understanding of task requirements and assist with issue resolution
- Plan and develop functional test plans for all phases of testing
- Assist with issue tracking and issue resolution until fully resolved
- Coordinate with the Release Manager and Developer team on pushing user stories through user acceptance testing and deployment preparation
- Assist with end user training, troubleshooting, and other rollout and production support activities
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent education or experience
- Two to five years data systems analysis and/or software testing experience
- Experience with manual structured testing practices and/or automated testing tools
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to openly interact with other project team members
- Experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry, including policy administration, financial and premium accounting, and/or claims processing preferred
- Experience with Agile methodologies preferred
- Experience with Azure DevOps a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- General knowledge and comfort with diverse technologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented and able to track and follow up on tasks with extended development time frames
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Ability to work outside of standard business hours on occasion
