Experienced Claims Field Adjuster / Investigator
Established and Growing Independent Insurance Adjusting and Investigation firm is seeking the right candidate to fulfill a full and/or part time position. This position will require sound oral and written skills and the ability to work with Microsoft Word. Organization skills are necessary and the ability to organize a schedule and diary and work with our office team. We are looking for an upbeat and enthusiastic field adjuster to join our organization.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Investigating, evaluating and settling casualty insurance claims
- Determining whether the insured’s policy covers the claimed loss
- Mitigating claims and Deciding an appropriate amount the company should pay out, if anything.
- Ensuring that claims are not fraudulent and if so, identifying “Red Flags”
- Contacting claimant’s employers or doctors for additional information if the claim is questionable
- Conferring with legal counsel as needed
- Negotiating settlements and authorizing payments
Skills and Qualification: Claims Adjusters must consider multiple pieces of information to carefully make a decision. In addition to being a licensed General Adjuster, the following Skills and Qualifications are essential for the position:
- Excellent Communication skills to gather information from individuals, including medical experts, claimant’s, policyholder and witnesses for the mitigation of claims.
- Attention to detail to carefully review damages, medical reports, specials, property and other documents.
- Interpersonal skills to meet with claimants and other relevant individuals who may be upset by a situation.
- Math skills for calculating damages.
- Strong professional drive
- Strong knowledge of the labor law, sections 240 and 241 (Construction Claims knowledge)
