This job provides administrative direction and management for the enterprise insurance programs for the organization, including strategy support for Legal Affairs Department leadership.
Job Duties

Identifies insurable and non-insurable risk and participates in risk management strategy.

Performs coverage gap analysis and proactively advises department leadership and other internal clients, including Treasury, of potential exposures, related to new programs, affiliations, and contracts.

Reviews insurance policies, endorsements, and exclusions and manages policy expirations.

Proposes risk financing mechanisms, including potential insurance coverage or financial transfer of risk, and risk reduction strategies.

Participates in ongoing evaluation and documentation of reserves.

Prepares applications for initial, renewal, or revised coverage with third party insurance carriers and the Louisiana Patients’ Compensation Fund.

Oversees point communications with insurance broker(s), carriers, and appropriate others related to organization’s insurance program development.

Facilitates annual audits by third party claims auditors.

Supports annual actuarial evaluation.

Notifies insurance carriers of loss claims.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
- Required – Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business administration, risk management, hospital administration, law, or closely related field.
Work Experience
- Required – 3 years of progressively responsible experience in third-party insurance or captive insurance management.
- Preferred – Prior experience in insurance policy review and management of corporate insurance portfolio.
Certifications
- Preferred – Associate in Risk Management (ARM), CPCU (Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter), CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor).
