Sr. Manager Operations, Group Life & Health

Ullico Inc. is actively recruiting a Sr. Manager of Insurance Operations for Group Life & Health Department for our Silver Spring, MD office.  This candidate will manage and oversee the activities and staff of the Life and Health Billing, Accounting, and Sales Development Operational Teams.  This person will create, complete, and deliver internal operational reports (s) specific to the Life and Health teams.  Maintain client relationships and work with internal company departments and outside vendors to ensure efficient and cost effective department operations.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and maintains effective work relationships with clients.
  • Corresponds with external individuals, participants, Officers and administrators; reports to specified clients as required.
  • Aids in the management of vendor relationships to ensure performance goals for department are maintained.
  • Creates and evaluates/reviews internal reports reflective of business volumes, premium, lives, and general P/L.
  • Coordinates and aids in the SOX documentation for Life and Health Operations and ensures year round compliance.
  • Assists with the relationships of TPA’s including but not limited to on-site visits, resolution of CDI’s, Compliance bulletins, claims issues, and analysis of documentation to ensure contract compliance. Aids in the coordination & facilitations of annual TPA Management audit.
  • Partners with internal IT in the coordination of yearly re-certifications for group & ESL users.
  • Manages ULLICO monthly, quarterly, and annual premium, billing and accounting activities across Life and Health Products for customers.  Reports timely to Leadership variances and/or discovered issues.
  • Reviews current processes to identify areas for efficiency updates. Coordinates with other departments regarding any changes to the processes that require timely and effective implementation.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing communication with staff regarding performance expectations, organization, department goals and career objectives.  Monitors productivity and quality levels to ensure adequate levels are achieved by staff. Provide training resources, mentoring, employee development plans, prepare and communicate performance appraisals as appropriate or required.  Document and communicate disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Completes annual budget for Sales Development, Billing, and Accounting operational teams. Operates department within budgetary guidelines and constraints.
  • Creates and maintains multiple Sharepoint project folders for interdepartmental and external TPA use.
  • Provides Quarterly of business functions including Sales Development Support, Billing, and Accounting teams documenting totals vs. prior quarter and yearly totals.
  • Tracks and reports Life and Health Operations goals and works with owners to implement and complete.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of insurance experience.  A Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field is strongly desired.  Must be able to act in a lead capacity and be able to handle multiple priorities with shifting time frames and meet deadlines.  Strong technical acumen, written & oral communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.  He/she must also be a solid problem solver and a team player.
