Summary

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for performing general ledger bookkeeping on multiple accounting systems. The position also prepares and analyzes financial reports, journal entries, maintains and reconciles ledger accounts, assists in developing & maintaining annual budgets.

Essential Functions        

  • Performs general ledger bookkeeping on multiples accounting systems
  • Prepares and analyzes financial reports
  • Prepares journal entries
  • Maintains, analyzes, and reconciles ledger accounts
  • Plays integral role in producing quarterly and annual statements as well as various filings to regulatory agencies
  • Assists with annual financial audits and occasional regulatory exams
  • Performs analysis of operations upon request
  • Produces financial data for management team upon request
  • Assists with special Accounting projects periodically - i.e. budgets
  • Completes month-end and quarterly closing (e.g. balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Interacts/Communicates with customers via phone to collect payments and/or address concerns
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar work environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with particular attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Solid time management skills
  • Strong computer aptitude which includes expertise with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) as well as experience with accounting software and general ledgers
  • Adept at working with PDF files
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work independently with little supervision, but also able to work collaboratively with a team
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with private company and employee data
