Position Summary:
This position is responsible for examining, retrieving and documenting information and verifying damage related to insurance claims. Responsibilities may include corresponding with policy holders, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, parts suppliers, etc. to gather important information to support claims. Prepares report of findings for insurance claims. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. The Field Claims Adjuster works under immediate supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Immediately contact the insured/claimant to set up appointment to inspect damaged vehicle/cargo. Inform claimant/insured you will need a copy of title, police report, bill of lading (cargo claims), tow bill.
- Physically locate the damaged vehicle/cargo and confirm its identity, using the VIN number.
- Inspect the damaged vehicle/cargo and complete vehicle specification sheet. Ensure instructions are followed on the insurance assignment sheet provided.
- Obtain pictures of vehicle/cargo damage/s, copy of police report (if applicable), tow bill, bill of lading, and proof of ownership (copy of vehicle title).
- Inquire where the vehicle owner wants to get repairs completed.
- Gather all relevant information to obtain parts prices in order to complete appraisal process.
- Upload pictures and appraisal forms to the appropriate folder on GACS server.
- Send status email to Insurance Company Adjuster, GACS team with a few of relevant pictures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Experience
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid State Adjuster license
- Clean driving record
- Reliable transportation, proof of insurance coverage, and a valid state driver’s license
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet, internal databases
Preferred:
- 4 year college degree
- 2 years minimum experience in similar work environment

- Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all staff members of Gulf-Atlantic Claims Service, Clients (insured/claimants), witnesses, Vendors, and Insurance Companies
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Travel: State wide coverage and occasional travel in multiple states.
Physical Demands: The work requires driving to different locations within specified state, on a full time and daily basis. Activities may include walking; standing; bending; climbing in/out of damaged vehicles; carrying of light items such as camera, paper, books, or notebooks.
Working Environment: Work is normally performed in the field and in office. Time will be predominantly spent in the field, inspecting and documenting damaged vehicles; i.e. heavy equipment, tractor trailers, semi-trucks, cargo. Aspects of this position may include working under hazardous conditions, such as, inclement weather, cargo contents, farm work, and live accident scenes and other un-expected situations. Safety equipment/gear should be kept in vehicle at all times, with easy access when needed.
