The Underwriting Assistant provides assistance to our Casualty Underwriters utilizing RSUI systems.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-screening / Pre-qualifying submissions with little guidance
- Request necessary information for underwriter review
- Review Loss Information
- Rating using rating system (read apps and classify)
- Request rating information
- Put together quotes for underwriters to review
- Review and quote renewals with little direction
- Follow up on outstanding quotes
- Policy file organization and maintenance
- Complete rating worksheets
- Complete underwriter summary
- Suspense and follow up on all requests: Information Needed for policy issuance, Loss Information
- Process monied and non-monied endorsements and assist with wording and preparation of endorsements as needed
- Preparation of documentation for general information, reinsurance and policy issuance
- Maintain renewal listing and follow up with producers
- Communicate and provide information to brokers and reinsurers
- Work with underwriter to effectively manage workload and establish priorities
- Various other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; some college preferred - or equivalent business experience
- 2-5 years Casualty underwriting support experience required
- Good knowledge of casualty forms/endorsements
- Superior customer service orientation and dedicated work ethic
- Entrepreneurial, “no task is too small” approach
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Strong team player; energetic personality
- Good communication skills – phone, e-mail, interpersonal
- Excellent typing/keyboarding skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel & Word)
- Math aptitude
