The National Sales Manager - Agency is responsible for coordinating and developing all activities related to the sale of the organization’s products and services and achieving sales and profitability goals through the agency sales channel. The National Sales Manager - Agency provides direction and leadership to their agents. This includes sourcing, developing and directing agents to ensure high customer satisfaction and achievement of sales goals. The National Sales Manager - Agency is also responsible for developing a comprehensive understanding of the current market in order to formulate sales strategies, set sales targets and manage channel expenses.

LOCATION: Remote or a Company Headquarters in San Mateo, CA

RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Leadership

  • Manage the agency channel through targeted motivation and communication.
  • Manage and participate in the training/coaching of agents.
  • Evaluate agency performance.
  • Improve agency channels performance by providing targeted and constructive feedback to agents.
  • Set appropriate and achievable goals for agents.
  • Develop and deliver product demonstrations and business presentations to management and customers.
  • Assist Marketing Department in developing or updating sell sheets and other materials to help agents promote company’s products and services to prospective customers.
  • Foster a positive work environment.
  • Partner with –Vice President of Sales and Marketing to coordinate in achieving overall profit and sales goals.

Sales Strategy

  • Set the vision for the respective agency sales channel.
  • Develop and adhere to business plans to achieve the vision.
  • Forecast and track sales nationally.
  • Conduct analyses and work with underwriting to determine competitiveness of related products and services within the current market, and customer needs and preferences.
  • Review monthly reports and operation records.
  • Project sales objectives and understand underwriting and pricing components.
  • Assist agents in the sales process, when needed, to help them facilitate a sale to prospective customers.
  • Help agents advocate their position on complex submissions and/or requests to underwriting, if needed,

Formal Education and Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field (specialization in sales is preferred).

Knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive customer service experience in assessing and evaluating customer needs and satisfaction and meeting specified standards with respect to products and services.
  • Exceptional oral and written comprehension, communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience demonstrating, promoting, and selling professional liability products/services.
  • Knowledge and experience with professional liability marketing/sales strategy and tactics.
  • 10+ years experience in insurance industry as a sales manager, sales representative or sales related position.
  • Knowledge of administration, business, and management principles. 
  • Experience with MS Office, as well as Customer Relationship Management software (Sales Force, Insight Squared) and other analytical or project management tools.
  • Extensive experience working in a team environment.
  • Track record of generating sales revenue.
