About the Role
The Senior Financial Analyst will be part of the Financial Planning and Analysis team for an insurance and financial services organization that is nationally recognized as a “Best In State Employer” and nearly tops The 100 Best list among Kansas’ privately held organizations. Here is a snapshot of the role:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance plus at least five (5) years of accounting experience in the insurance industry (preferably working in the life, health or annuities space).
- Location: This position is based in Topeka, KS; however, the company has a satellite office in Kansas City. Telecommuting consideration may be given for applicants who live in KC with the requirement that 2-3 days/week will need to be spent working in Topeka.
- Position Details: A newly created position that reports to the Controller. You will interact with senior finance leaders and collaborate with individuals in other departments like tax, investments, actuarial and investment accounting.
- Compensation: $75k-$100k depending on experience with an annual bonus opportunity.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing recurring quarterly and annual management and investor reporting and presentations, including assisting with analysis and researching variances
- Assist with trend analysis, benchmarking and financial results messaging in preparation of quarterly investor reporting
- Assist in managing investor relationships through monitoring and coordinating responses to investor requests
- Understand key financial and operational drivers of performance and tracks, analyzes and reports financial information
- Analyze and verify internal consistency, completeness, and credibility of reporting
- Monitor peer company investor reporting and assists in developing a robust investor relations reporting strategy and framework
- Participate in investor calls and tracks and monitors investor questions for recurring themes
- Assist in preparing potential investor Q and A
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of processes and implements automated enhancements that lead to improvements in efficiency, timeliness, transparency, and consistency
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- 5+ years insurance industry experience; preference to candidates who have public company experience in the insurance industry specializing in annuities
- Strong analytical and computer skills including but not limited to MS Office Excel Suite
