An Innovation Consultant is responsible for shaping and delivering new ideas for business units who engage with the Innovation Office. You will play a role in the facilitation of ideas for Travelers while ensuring that innovative ideas are suitably shaped, resourced and sponsored from beginning to end.
With some guidance, you will explore and build out ideas using the Travelers innovation methodology involving sponsors, product owners, topic leads and customers in collaboration with the Innovation Office Team. You will be central in the provision of research, insights and stimulus which help focus and optimize ideas. You will be available for direct customer engagement every step of the way to make ideas a reality.
This role is responsible for championing innovation throughout the Travelers business units and functions by:
Facilitating teams in exploring and developing ideas using the Travelers innovation methodology.
Providing training and innovation support to colleagues across the business.
Sharing with and supporting colleagues in deploying and using innovation tools and techniques.
Maintaining and improving the methodology framework, training, tools and techniques.
Fostering an open and accessible central experimentation capability.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Supports the exploration and delivery of new ideas in partnership with business units utilizing the Travelers innovation methodology to de-risk decision making and optimize chances of success.Provides facilitation of idea generation, shaping and delivery through to whichever stage is appropriate through the methodology.Responsible for the sourcing of subject matter experts, both internal and tech partners, to optimize skills and achieve the desired outcomes.Supports a framework process that all Travelers innovation methodology participants adhere to and provides consistency in prioritization and outcome levels.Leads the research of specific ideas, trends in the market and consumers and presents findings and insights to the Innovation Office Team.Supports an ideation service for leadership teams which are explored through impactful stimulus to develop prioritized opportunities.Supports key stakeholder relationships with specific sponsors, product owners, topic leads and customers to maintain engagement and manage expectations.Coordinates with the Innovation Office team to ensure that ideas are strategically aligned, appropriately prioritized, scheduled and attended.Supports escalations and resolves issues, wherever they arise.Reports plans, project status and progress to the team as appropriate.Feeds into the Innovation Team tools and techniques as appropriate.Promotes the Innovation Team's open partnering approach to innovation.
4+ years of experience in digital transformation, product development, strategy consulting or innovation related field.
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) or advanced Experience preferred. 5+ years of experience in digital transformation, product development, strategy consulting or innovation related field preferred. Working knowledge of business operations and management is preferred. Experience with end-to-end proposition development experience, including marketing and market analysis, operations, technology, customer experience and commercials / business model. Experience with idea-generating techniques in a business context. Experience in lean methodologies to assist decision-making in uncertain environments, including: design thinking, lean start-up testing, agile product development. Evidence of direct responsibility for delivering specific components of innovative change. Ability to work in teams and deliver as part of multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams in a timely manner. Stakeholder management and evidence of building and maintaining relationships in a corporate setting. Experience of process/framework management and governance demonstrating familiarity in seeing key prioritization decisions made based on empirical data. Background in Insurance and/or Financial Services.

Good commercial acumen, with confidence in market sizing, investment analysis and financial modelling (including unit economics).
