Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Collect rate information from agents regarding excess/surplus lines or Brokerage type insurance; make sure all applications are complete; get complete applications to companies; call agents back with quote.

Key data into the computer system regarding new business, changes, and renewals for Brokerage policies and maintain spreadsheet program.

Figure renewals for Brokerage policies.

Mail brokerage policies to insureds, mortgage companies, and agents. Mail additional policy items, such as, declarations, endorsements, renewals, certificates, etc.

Assist in underwriting Brokerage policies, if necessary. Assist others in the department, as needed.

Act as working supervisor of Brokerage department; Assists agents and CSRs by providing guidance and training. 

Assist in reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.

Confers with Brokerage Director, Agency staff and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                   

Directly supervises employees in the Brokerage Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience                                                  

Current Property & Casualty Producer’s License is required.
Bachelor of Science or other 4-year degree from accredited university.
5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Commercial insurance experience strongly preferred.

Worker is expected to participate in continuing education program(s) and/or participate in cross-training for other lines of business, if needed.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current Property & Casualty Producer’s License required.

CPCU Designation is preferred.

Other Qualifications                                                  

Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Excellent knowledge of the insurance regulatory environment.

Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, and reporting of financial data.
