Currently we seek an up-and-coming Actuarial Analyst to join our team in Austin, Texas.
The Actuarial Analyst is a high visibility role in which the successful individual will perform statistical analysis to support the company’s goals as well as assist in the development and maintenance of analytical tools and models. This role will also participate in determining product pricing and research by gathering statistical and analytical information. In addition, responsibility for identifying trends in premiums and losses, recommending rate level, and maintaining and updating predictive models will be a function of this position.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in the development and maintenance of analytical tools and models using Microsoft Excel, Access, Visual basic, SQL and more
- Collects and refines appropriate data for actuarial analysis and ensures its reasonableness and accuracy
- Prepares periodic and ad-hoc reports for other departments and oversees programming solutions
- Performs preliminary actuarial and statistical analysis
- Must have solid aptitude in mathematics and statistics, and the ability to calculate complex figures and amounts
- Must possess business awareness and numerical ability
- Administers, designs, secures, and maintains databases
- Ability to use advanced spreadsheet and database techniques independently.
- Ability to design reports and program queries
- Determines business intelligence needs
- Documents and communicates assumptions, results and alternatives to actuarial department
- Supports other actuarial functions as needed.
Education & Work Experience:
- 4 Year Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial, or related field
- 1-3 years of actuarial work experience - P&C experience preferred
- Effective communicator
- Strong personality – willing to challenge norms and speak your mind
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Knowledge of SQL required
