About the Position
Under general supervision, this job is responsible for investigating, negotiating and settling moderately complex property damage and liability insurance claims. This individual travels to the loss site to conduct a thorough analysis. This individual reviews the insurance policy, evaluates damages, determines loss coverage, and authorizes payments. The individual is capable of working independently, prioritizing the individual's own responsibilities, and managing the individual's own workload.

Specific responsibilities include
Customer Service

  • Makes and maintains a connection with the customer by understanding and meeting their needs; serves the customer with empathy; and follows up to ensure that customer needs have been met
  • Researches and responds to moderately complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues

File Documentation and Reporting

  • Documents a claim file with notes, evaluations and decision making process
  • Handles first notice of loss of water damage claims

Coverage, Liability and Evaluation

  • Investigates, reviews, determines and verifies moderately complex coverage/policy information
  • Provides coverage explanation to customer

Damage Estimating

  • Completes and reviews contents inventory, contents pricing, and mitigation bills
  • Notifies insured of exposure over the policy limit
  • Prepares damage estimate for moderately complex claims
  • Handles additional living expense claims
  • May handle claims involving sink holes, or claims that include Public Adjuster involvement
  • Inspects and estimates water damage, hail damage, or smoke and fire damage in a dwelling
  • Adheres to applicable compliance standards

Other Projects and Responsibilities

  • May participate in one or more moderately complex special assignments
  • May serve as a committee team lead for smaller projects or as a committee team member on medium projects
  • Conducts subrogation investigations

Job Qualifications

Working environment
Please note that, since this is a field service position, you will need to have a valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle. This is a demanding field position that will require you to travel within the territory as much as 75% of your working time. As a result, you must be willing to work some weekend and extended hours if necessary.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years experience investigating evaluating, negotiating and setting moderately complex property claims strongly preferred
  • Experience in construction management and/or remodeling construction preferred
  • Knowledge of Xactimate preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a passion for helping others.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Persistence and the ability to work through and solve problems.
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Has and maintains all appropriate licenses and registrations for the role per state requirements
