Role: The Account Manager is an integral link in the business relationship that is created by our agency, our clients, and our companies. For many clients, the Account Manager is the focal point of their contacts with our agency, and frequently clients rely on their Account Manager to explain, select and place their insurance coverage. The individual Account Manager needs to objectively assess the underwriting practices of our companies when placing coverage. In addition to fundamental rating, underwriting and procedural skills, the Account Manager position requires excellent communication skills combined with sales abilities.

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Retention of existing accounts – No. 1 Priority
  • Quoting and Write New and Renewal Business
  • Completing Accord Forms
  • Work with Insurance Company Reps and Underwriters
  • Preparing Building Cost Estimators
  • Prepare and Submit Endorsements
  • Completion of underwriting requirements as needed
  • Ensure all applications are thoroughly completed and contain the client’s signature
  • Process Certificates and Binders
  • Respond to all underwriters’ requests, recommendations, restaurant questionnaires, terrorism form, etc.
  • Order Loss Run reports as well as process No Loss Letters
  • Cross selling
  • Marketing of coverages to existing clients as well prospective new clients
  • Assist with Claims Documentation on the Applied System
  • Work closely with Agency Producers and Process Producers new business as long as the applications are complete
  • Answer clients questions
  • Follow company underwriting guidelines
  • Return all business phone calls within 4 hours
  • Respond to all email requests within 4 hours
  • Train Junior CSRs as needed
  • Prepare Presentable Quotes, Folder, Comparison Sheet, Etc. for Presentation to the Client
  • Maintain 90% or better client retention
  • Process all new business within 48 hours
  • Mail out client checks within 48 hours of receiving them
  • Grow Commercial/Personal Lines Book of Business by 10%
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications / Education / Experience

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to Multitask
  • Good Customer Service Skills
  • Good Listening Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • P&C Licensed CISR, CIC or CPCU designation a plus
  • Knowledge of Applied Management system (TAM) a plus
  • Previous Experience working for an Independent Agent is a BIG plus
