Manager - Commercial Lines

This is a great opportunity to build and grow your skills with a relationship-based company that has a great culture and collaborative work environment.  As a Commercial Lines Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of underwriters and support staff.  You will also work closely with independent insurance agents and Regional Managers to promote profit and premium growth through new and renewal business accounts such as sports bars and taverns, restaurants, apartments and small family dwellings in 10 states.

What you will do….

• Manage the training, development and performance of underwriters and support staff
• Plan and monitor the workflow and assigned agencies and territories of underwriters
• Ensure policies are issued within established guidelines and authority levels
• Conduct audits to ensure the proper approval, rejection or non-renewal of policies
• Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with agencies
• Recommend new coverages and policy amendments in response to customer requests

The qualifications you need include….

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work experience
• CPCU, CIC or similar insurance designation preferred
• Minimum of 3 years commercial lines underwriting or related work experience
• Prior supervisory experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
• A confident decision maker with negotiation skills
• Good judgement, a great work ethic and highly self-motivated
