SUMMARY
Assist Producers to service customers by providing administrative and technical support for all lines of commercial insurance with the goal of generating new business and retaining existing business. Develop and broaden coverages for existing commercial business and solicit new business. Also cross-sells other lines of insurance such as personal lines and benefits insurance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- * Process and quote renewals checking policy coverages and endorsements for accuracy and relevance, review property coverages, limits, rating classifications, claim history and other factors as appropriate. Complete applications after review of updated customer exposure survey information and obtaining renewal information from customer. May include making risk management recommendations. Prepare and issue binders. * Assist Producer to quote and write new commercial business checking policy coverages and endorsements for accuracy and relevance, reviewing property coverages, limits, rating classifications, claim history and other factors as appropriate, and obtaining all necessary from customer. Complete applications after review of updated customer exposure survey information. May include making risk management recommendations. Prepare and issue binders. * Solicit and write new business on existing accounts. * Prepare binders and process agency bill invoices, process endorsements, new coverage requests, issue Certificates of Insurance, complete applications and proposals, and answer customer, carrier and Producer questions, and handle customer and carrier correspondence. * Take initial claim information from policyholder and/or claimant and submit claim information to carriers. Follow up on outstanding claims and provides assistance in their resolution, as necessary. * Review renewals to determine if non-standard policies can be rewritten in a standard program. Prepare rewrite applications for business through companies no longer represented. Secure and submit required renewal underwriting information. * Respond to phone calls and office visitors requesting quotes, changes to existing coverage, new coverages, and coverage questions. Determine acceptability and placement, complete applications and/or endorsements, and collect premium when applicable. * Review existing accounts to determine if additional lines of insurance should be solicited. Receive and review terminations and cancellations to determine action to be taken. * Handle premium collection through form letters and request cancellation of policies when necessary. * Actively solicit increases in limits and/or coverages and round out customer accounts. Document all material conversations with insureds and/or carriers regarding exposures and coverages. Keep informed about new coverages, new products and new markets. * Develop and maintain working relationships with customers and carriers. * Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be an assertive self-starter with the ability to influence others. Should have demonstrated effective presentation skills through both verbal and written communications. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and capable of multi-tasking.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must have all licenses as required by the State Department of Insurance to discuss and/or sell insurance in states where the agency functions. Can understand and analyze lines of insurance coverages, forms and policies. Ability to use personal computer, calculator, agency management system, and proficiency in various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel.
