Member Insurance Agency is a national commercial insurance agency and the largest agency in the country in the retail hardware/building materials dealers' industry segment.  We are endorsed by several large cooperatives in this industry segment.  We offer a complete line of commercial insurance products to our market.  Our clients can choose from property, general liability, business auto, workers' compensation, builders' risk, flood and many other forms of commercial coverage's based on their needs and budget.

We are currently seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant to work in our Barrington office.

The Accounting Assistant will report and provide Accounting support to the Controller.  This primary responsibilities of this position are to issue and record vendor payments, handle the expense reporting and reimbursement process, record commission deposits and handle the annual 1099 process.  In addition, the Accounting Assistant will organize the year-end audit and tax schedules, assist with other financial-close related activities such as journal entries, account reconciliations and assist with Agency Billing.

  • High School diploma with some Accounting college course work (Associates degree in Accounting preferred)
  • Minimum three years of experience in Accounts Payable and Receivable functions
  • Microsoft Office Suite intermediate to advanced level experience, specifically with Excel
  • Insurance related work experience helpful, but not required
  • EPIC or other ERP (i.e. PeopleSoft) system experience preferred
