POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for general accounting functions including: general ledger accounting and accounts payable. This position will support the monthly general ledger close process, as well as any other support necessary within the Accounting Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Preparation of month-end journal entries
- Reconciliation of account schedules
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations in a timely manner
- Assist with month-end financial review/reporting and financial statement preparation
- Maintain all fixed assets and the depreciation schedules
- Support senior accounting staff with assignments and/or special projects
- Manage accounts payable; ensure accurate, complete and timely processing of all vendor invoices
- Perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; pursuit of Masters and CPA a plus
- At least 2+ years of experience in general accounting with full understanding of US GAAP
- Working knowledge of the accounting process
- Experience in MS Office with Proficiency in Excel
- High level of detail orientation, organization and able to complete work accurately and timely
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Concur is a plus
- Insurance industry experience is preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
