Independently determine eligibility of assigned risk business of any level of complexity and assign classification/pricing according to state facility guidelines.

We are currently recruiting for an Assigned Risk Underwriter to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Independently determine eligibility of assigned risk business of any level of complexity and assign classification/pricing according to state facility guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review applications for completeness, consistency, and relevant history; obtain reports and surveys; communicate with agents or other parties to confirm or obtain additional information of facts represented in application.
- Verify that business is eligible for Joint Underwriting Association.
- Assign proper classifications based on relevant factors established by state facility; provide material and complete instructions to rating team for further processing.
- Respond to inquiries from agents, insureds, or other internal departments.
- Report agency and producer violations to Michigan Automobile Insurance Placement Facility (MAIPF).
- Operate within all guidelines in accordance with the MAIPF.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2 years of experience with commercial auto insurance
- Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers.
- Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
