Brown & Brown of Oregon, LLC is currently seeking a skilled Workers Compensation Specialist to join our team in Portland, OR. The primary role of the Workers Compensation (WC) Specialist will be to provide high level consulting to clients related to their Risk Management needs, assist teammates with renewals, and negotiate with underwriters during the proposal process.

 

The WC Specialist further develops strong relationships with our clients and understands their business to ensure that business plan objectives are supported by their insurance programs.  Ultimatly, our team will rely on you for servicing existing accounts with premiums over $100,000, self-insured, and multistate clients.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Service larger Workers Compensation accounts, including those with high deductible, retro, or large accounts in need of WC consultation
  • Utilize technology in conjunction with annual service plans for specific client groups like self-insured, group self-insured, SAIF, and other voluntary markets
  • Review clients’ current insurance programs and strategies to set objectives while generating opportunities for cross-selling and account rounding
  • Market and assure coverage is in place and gaps in coverage are avoided
  • Complete necessary applications, ICRs, and forms
  • Manage new and renewal business proposals and marketing activity
  • Advise clients on loss control strategies and conduct/oversee claims management
  • Share E&O responsibilities with Producers
  • Analyze experience ratings, $1,900 medical reimbursement plans, rating plans, retro’s and retention plans, and keep client informed
  • Assist and advise clients in times of mergers and acquisitions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with producers, client account managers, clients, and carriers through phone calls, personal meetings, seminars, etc. for all aspects of the client relationship
  • Perform other duties as assigned 



Required Competencies:

  • High school graduate with a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience in the field of Workers Compensation Insurance
  • Required to maintain Property and Casualty Agents License for the State of Oregon and/or Resident State
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of property & casualty coverage, current legislation, rules, laws, and other regulations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contracts and their provisions
  • Fluent with Microsoft Windows, Office365, Word, and Excel
  • Exceptional telephone demeanor
  • Strong, consistent, and assertive communication skills
  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) with five (5) years of experience in the field of Workers Compensation Insurance
  • AMS360 and Zywave experience
  • Other combination of work and/or education will be considered
