Senior Accountant - Investment Accounting

A newly created position, the Senior Accountant, Investment Accounting is an addition to an insurance company’s corporate accounting team that is at capacity and needs someone like you who understands complex transactions and can interpret financial documents for various types of investments. Examples of investments you’ll work with include debt instruments, equity investments, annuities and derivatives.

Responsibilities: You have multiple levels of recording, reporting and analysis review. A shorthand snippet includes:

• Reconciliation
• Journal entry (in the general ledger system, PeopleSoft)
• Prep of quarterly statements (audited GAAP financial statements)
• Schedules for rating agency filings

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with three (3) years of public accounting experience. Knowledge of investments, fixed-income and equity, as well as derivatives and/or annuities.

Desirable Qualifications: Possess the ability to analyze transactions, apply guidelines, initiate analysis and draft memos to ensure proper set up.
