The Licensing Manager will supervise and facilitate the agent licensing of employees and the appointment of independent agents by American Interstate Insurance Company, American Interstate Insurance Company of Texas, and Silver Oak Casualty, Inc. Will complete special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with new and renewal licensure of employees licensed as producers 
  • Secure and review renewal of bonds for surplus lines licenses 
  • Secure, oversee and terminate appointments for agents in appropriate systems
  • Update affiliations on the agency license as required by each state.
  • Maintain knowledge of termination procedures in all states
  • Process renewal of company appointments for each state(s) in a timely manner
  • Conducting a variety of analytics, research and reporting on multiple stystems for required state and federal needs
  • Processing payments for various billings 
  • Coordinate with other departments to obtain current designation and certifications 
  • Processing of Default Base Rate changes as needed using specified systems
  • Provide and confirm current records on licensed employees’ continuing education and submit to Insurance Departments when needed
  • Reesearch and process state licensing requirements to aid in securing employee licenses and appointments
  • Maintain, monitor and review current licensing files and company appointments on all active licensed employees
  • Enter, modified and update all new, prospective and current contracted agents in company systems 
  • Responsible for obtaining licensing and demographic information for agents and/or agency to ensure proper appointments for each state they write business in
  • Conduct background checks on new, active contracted agents as required
  • Oversee entry and maintenance of each agency’s active producers
  • Correspond with agencies concerning appointment and termination activities
  • Provide information to Insurance Department(s) for market conduct audits. 
  • Communicate with state departments of insurance regarding licensing and/ or agent issues
  • Maintain a Licensing Department Procedural manual
  • Review processes and recommend changes via service requests
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent research and organizational skills
  • Professional written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of state insurance departments’ license rules and regulations
  • Previous regulatory background
  • Experience in a manager/supervisor role preferred
  • Must possess a Louisiana Property and Casualty license and CISR designation
