Position Overview:

The AVP - Data and Analytics will be primarily responsible for defining and implementing the enterprise data strategy and embedding the use of the data and analytics as a strategic asset for a Property & Casualty Insurance organization. The ideal candidate will be able to establish a vision for the next generation data platform whilst driving the organizational change by incrementally implementing data and analytics solutions aligned to the business transformation programs (e.g. Policy, Claims, and Billing and digital transformation) that deliver business value.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assistant Vice President of Data and Analytics operates as a thought leader and visionary, with the ability to guide, influence and inspire the data team
  • Define and own the enterprise Data strategy in partnership with IT leadership
  • Assistant Vice President of Data and Analytics analyzes the current state data strategy and governance and recasting as needed, including the investments and people required
  • Lead the effort to deploy a data model for conformed data which will help establish a common vocabulary and taxonomy for data across the organization
  • Assistant Vice President of Data and Analytics establishes an operating model for data governance, including the roles and responsibilities such as data governance body, data stewardship, and data custodians and the required policies and procedures
  • Ensure enterprise data meets the organization wide reporting requirements and moves to next level of maturity
  • Assistant Vice President of Data and Analytics establishes a Center of Excellence for Data and Analytics in order to become a data driven organization.
  • Provide leadership around Data tools and products and leverage next generation concepts to help drive the business value.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably Masters or MBA (Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Information System, Computer Science, or Actuarial Studies).
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a senior data position within a large to mid-size P&C Carrier
  • Extensive experience building and leading a data organization and driving business value from data across the business
  • Proven track record of managing or overseeing large-scale delivery
