In this role you will accurately and timely evaluate all workers’ compensation claims, for our Absentia fee-for-service product, to identify those that are high risk. This includes daily interaction with claimants and employers to collect information through telephone calls and behavioral based clinical interviews; which run through our predictive ID15 proprietary tool to determine high-risk claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review First Reports of Injury and all claim documents submitted by the client.
  • Makes initial calls to the claimant and employer on a subset of claims to obtain information related to treatment and return to work and will determine next steps based on the information received.
  • Identifies claims appropriate for behavioral based clinical interviews.
  • Conducts behavioral based clinical interviews which may last up to an hour.
  • Use professional experience and clinical judgment during the behavioral based interviews to determine next steps which may include additional questions or direct referral to nurse case management.
  • At times may need to problem solve to obtain pertinent information during interviews
  • May be required to determine case obstacles and strategies as a result of the behavioral based clinical interview.
  • May at times assist the nurse case management team in making return-to-clinic follow-up calls related to return to work.
  • May at times assist in preparing, creating and sending communications with regards to treatment plans and return to work.
  • Works with nurse case managers,  clients and vendor partners to coordinate referrals to other product offerings including our modified duty off-site program, PlaceRite.
  • Occasionally will be required to enter First Reports of Injury into the claim system, send risk reports to clients, research return to work placements opportunities to non-profit organizations through our modified duty off-site program, PlaceRite.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience/Education:

  • An Associate’s Degree is required with a preference for a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related field.
  • 2-years experience within the insurance, occupational health or disability management industries with a preferred certification/license in CCM, LISW, LPN, RN, or CDMS.

Communication and Collaboration Skills: 

Excellent oral and written communication skills are critical to this position. Every interaction must be handled with tact, diplomacy and courtesy at all times. Must be able to collaborate and develop strong team relationships with all associates. Ability to work in a fast-past environment, organize workload, use independent judgment, and respond to multiple job demands. Excellent customer service.

Written: Superior writing, editing and presentation development skills that adapt to the channel, author and audience.

Oral: Outstanding verbal communication with any audience, including the ability to understand and be understood by the audience.

Problem Solving: This position will require the individual to work independently. The individual must be able to identify next steps during an interview process to see where more information might be required.
