About the Position

We’re looking for a Risk Management Financial Operations Assistant Division Director to work in a fast-paced Risk Management Financial Operations department to assist the Division Director in leading the team to achieve its goals related to operational accounting, budget monitoring, IRS reporting, banking and cash management, vendor management, financial reporting and internal controls for the TASB Risk Management Fund.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages day-to-day activities in operational accounting, budget monitoring, IRS reporting, banking and cash management, vendor management, monthly and annual financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Coaches, motivates and develops accounting team to meet operational and service goals set forth by the division, service area, and organization, and performs personnel evaluations on an ongoing basis
  • Ensures effective solution-oriented communication within and outside of the division, and participates in the evaluation of division services to internal and external customers
  • Identifies areas to streamline processes and procedures to enhance operational efficiency within the division and across the service area
  • Leads strategy sessions for the division and actively participates in strategy sessions for the service area, with involvement in setting major operational initiatives and forward-looking objectives related to technology, services, processes and personnel
  • Researches accounting rules and regulations to help make recommendations for development of appropriate accounting policies and monitors proper compliance
  • Works closely with other divisions in implementing strategic objectives involving change in processes or systems
  • Helps prepare information needed for reports to Audit & Finance Committee and Board of Trustees for the TASB Risk Management Fund
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Division Director

  • Keep an up-to-date knowledge of GAAP, and researching new/changed pronouncements to determine their impact on the organization.

  • Experience with JD Edwards E1 preferred
  • Experience with an ERP accounting system

Requirements:

  • CPA License required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 5+ years accounting and management experience
