Are you looking to advance your career and open to working in a highly entrepreneurial organization?  Our client is seeking a Property and Casualty Insurance Controller who enjoys the challenges which come with a distinguished broker in Chicago. This is an important position due to the projected growth of the company over the next 5 years. This role is special due to the culture of the team in place and reports directly to senior management. 

Responsibilities:

• Supervise, train and develop a team of accountants at the senior and staff levels
• Manage the general ledger, prepare financial statements, investigate actual to expected results, and establish policy and procedure over general accounting activities and implement best practices

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting
• CPA is required
• A minimum of 6 years of financial accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years on the broker side.  
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Experience supervising accounting staff in the preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and other financial information
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills, able to work and interact well with others, able to develop and maintain positive working relationships
• Exhibits leadership skills, able to motivate co-workers to achieve goals and objectives, and able to foster high morale.
