Job Overview
Senior Underwriter - Uniondale, NY
The Senior Underwriter position requires a strong problem solving and organization skill set with an emphasis on customer service. As a Senior Underwriter the candidate must possess the ability to cultivate key relationships to maintain a steady stream of business while remaining within the quality standards set by company. The Senior Underwriter must be able to analyze and assess risks, provide agent/insured with tailor made solutions and within carrier underwriting rules and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains a working knowledge of rules, regulations and procedures to assist with processing within Specialty Insurance Program guidelines.
- Must be proficient in all Underwriter skillsets.
- Answers questions or resolves problems of agents, insured’s, Regional Sales Managers and company management.
- Ability to apply rules and rates to normal rating situations involving new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
- Ability to prepare quotes for agents within company established time frames.
- Ability to explain underwriting process, and/or procedures via internal and external communication including but not limited to via phones, and/or chat.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the commitment to work successfully in a team environment and foster teamwork albeit with teammates, leadership and executive
- Other duties as requested and/or assigned.
Required Competencies:
- Bachelor degree required.
- CPCU designation a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- initiative and ability to resolve difficult business or interpersonal issues when needed.
- strong ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrate a comfort level in a fast- paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills with product and technical knowledge desired.
