This small Insurer is actively seeking a Legal Assistant / Legal Clerk to provide assistance and support to their staff counsel office in New York City. The role handles information of a critical nature, therefore maintaining confidences, using sound judgment, and professionalism is required. In addition, the candidate must be organized, detail oriented, and relationship driven, with excellent communication skills.  Broad duties with focus primarily on claims in litigation. 

This is a small casual office.  The paralegal will be assisting three attorneys.  Two who work remotely and the paralegal will be handling shared online files.  The paralegal will be on their own much of the time so must have proven ability to self-manage.  Casual and relaxed in terms of atmosphere but not so much in terms of work.  Expectation that the paralegal be sharp and responsive, detailed and on top of files to the extent necessary. 

Qualities, skills and experiences we seek:

  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications including Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology pertinent to general legal concepts.
