This position is responsible for the processing of claims, providing clerical support to the Liability Claims Manager, Liability Claims Examiners, Staff Adjusters and Independent Adjusters, which may include the transcription of detailed correspondence. Assistance is also provided to producers, insureds, claimants and attorneys on any and all liability claims inquiries.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. In addition, excellent computer, word processing and other general office experience are necessary. This position also requires very good verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills as there will be frequent customer contact under sometimes-stressful situations. Must be able to work independently, effectively set priorities and maintain confidentiality. Basic knowledge of claims procedure is helpful, but not necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Liability Claims Manager, Liability Claims Examiners, Staff Adjusters and Independent Adjusters by answering inquiries and requesting police, fire, medical and other pertinent reports.
  • Service of all MPIUA/RIJRA producers, insureds and others through prompt, courteous service.
  • Maintain MPIUA/RIJRA claims workflow through expeditious and thorough resolution of customer problems. When appropriate, adjust smaller claims under the direct supervision of the Liability Claims Manager. Accurate keying and processing of claim losses through the understanding of Infinity and ImageRight systems.
  • Review correspondence received and forward to established workflow.
  • Coordinate workflow to ensure issuance of items in order of priority
  • Prompt processing of claim indemnity and other types of payments within designated limits of authority.
  • Examine loss payment and other checks for accuracy prior to mailing.
  •  Maintain telephone contact with insureds, agents, staff adjusters, attorneys and public adjusters pertaining to such things as status of claim.
  •  Assist management and staff adjusters with the transcription and routing of reports and status requests via email.
  •  Achieve customer satisfaction through prompt, courteous service.
  •  Maintain a favorable public relations image.
  •  All other duties and projects as assigned.
