We currently have an exciting, career opportunity for an Account Manager, Healthcare based out of our Oakland, CA office. The Account Manager serves as the primary business contact for the client and is responsible for client satisfaction by building and maintaining lasting relationships and providing best-in-class service, resources and support. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 

  • Responsible for retention of business. 
  • Provide client with daily service support, problem solving and trouble-shooting. 
  • Interface with internal staff, vendors and carriers to resolve client billing issues, eligibility and claim issues. 
  • Responsible for client compliance with State and Federal legislation, in regards to ACA, COBRA, ERISA and HIPAA. Assist with questions, education, and meeting deadlines. 
  • Coordinate Benefit Fairs, employee meetings and all employee communications for Open Enrollment. Develop Open Enrollment timelines to meet deadlines. Attend Benefit Fairs and/or employee meetings. 
  • Assist with development and distribution of employer/employee communication pieces, including Benefit Guides and enrollment forms. 
  • Review and edit Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), Agreements and Amendments. 
  • Ensure credibility with clients by maintaining detailed knowledge of current market conditions and competitors in the health care industry. 
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of Keenan products. 
  • Attend ongoing educational/training programs required by the State to maintain current license status. 
  • Attend internal webinars, trainings and Account Management meetings. 
  • Keep abreast of Regulatory requirements relating to employee welfare benefits and Health Care Reform. 
  • Track all action items and deliverables. Ensure delivery to client in a timely manner. 
  • Track and deliver recurring client reports in a timely manner. 
  • Set up and lead implementation of clients’ new benefit products and administrative procedures, (e.g. new vendor setup, premium billing, eligibility, claims process, dependent eligibility audit, and communications). 
  • Assist with renewals and strategic planning meetings with clients, if requested. Attend meetings, if requested. 
  • Assist with new client implementations, as needed. Create Broker of Record (BOR) letters and implementation data requests and submit to carriers. 
  • Proofread and/or peer review all documents to ensure completeness and accuracy of information in documents produced for clients, internal staff, vendors, and carriers. 
  • Assist with annual Benchmarking/Cost Assessment reports and Stewardship Reports. 
  • Assist with prepopulating the annual Keenan Benefit survey questionnaire for prospects and clients. 
  • Assist with training of Service Coordinators and Administrative Assistants. 
  • Assist with preparation of client reference materials (insurance reference zip file or CD). 
  • Assist client with the preparation of annual CMS Creditable Coverage Disclosure Notice and Creditable Coverage testing for self-funded medical plans. 
  • Assist with special projects and all other duties as assigned. 
  • Travel as required. 


MINIMUM SUGGESTED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two-year Associate’s degree in business or related field required.
  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Consideration may be given to candidates without college credits who have over five years of related experience.
  • Group insurance experience as either an insurance company representative and/or an insurance broker preferred.
  • Insurance Life and Health Agent License through the State of California is required and must be maintained through continued education.
  • Must be able to effectively manage challenging situations and deadlines.
  • Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction.
  • Possesses negotiation skills, mathematical ability, and general knowledge of the healthcare industry and trends.
  • Knowledge of self-insured medical plans, underwriting and/or TPA operations is helpful.
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, excellent verbal and written skills. High level of initiative and works well in a team environment. 


SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Adept at accessing business data from the Internet when required.
  • Familiarity with PC, printers and computerized voice and email systems.
