We currently have an exciting, career opportunity for the Senior Account Manager in our Torrance office. The Account Manager serves as the primary business contact for the client and is responsible for client satisfaction by building and maintaining lasting relationships and providing best-in-class service, resources and support. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 

  • Responsible for conflict resolution and compliance on client deliverables.
  • Responsible for retention of business and increasing revenue on assigned accounts.
  • Expand existing relationships and provide consulting assistance on a wide range of benefit programs, offering recommendations and advice based on client needs, goals and objectives.
  • Review and analyze issued policies with respect to accuracy and adequacy of coverage (including compliance with marketing specifications) for discussion with client.
  • Interface with client/carrier in resolution of billing, premium, eligibility and claim issues, as needed, including billing reconciliation and eligibility audits.
  • Coordinate with clients and carriers for annual open enrollment periods and develop custom employer/employee communication pieces.
  • Review and edit medical Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), master contracts and amendments.
  • Ensuring credibility with clients by maintaining detailed knowledge of current market conditions and competitors in the Healthcare industry.
  • Keep abreast of market trends by reading the insurance trades and business publications and by attending seminars.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of products and on-going liaison with carrier representative to ensure responsiveness to client needs.
  • Attend on-going educational/training programs required by the State to maintain current license status.
  • Keep abreast of Regulatory requirements as it relates to Employee Benefits and Health Care Reform.
  • Prepare and produce scheduled reports in a timely manner.
  • Complete installations of new and replacement programs as needed.
  • Implement new products and routine administrative procedures, e.g. premium billing, eligibility, claims process, dependent eligibility audit, communications.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollments and health fairs; conduct employee orientation and Open Enrollment meetings as required.
  • Assist with renewal, strategic planning and analysis meetings with clients.
  • Complete annual Opportunities Assessment Report.
  • Assist with annual Stewardship Reports.
  • Assist with training of Administrative Assistants and Account Managers.
  •  Prepare and update Insurance Reference Manuals.
  • Provide assistance with Federal and State Legislative mandates.
  • Assist client with the preparation of annual CMS Creditable Coverage Disclosure Notice and Creditable Coverage testing for self-funded medical plans.
  • Provide clients with resources for maintaining compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, etc.
  • Provide client with daily service support, problem solving and trouble-shooting.
  • Assist with special projects and all other duties as assigned.
  • Travel as required in and out of state. 


MINIMUM SUGGESTED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two-year Associate’s degree in business or related field required.
  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Consideration may be given to candidates without college credits who have over 7 plus years related experience.
  • Group insurance experience as either an insurance company representative and/or an insurance broker preferred.
  • Insurance Life and Health Agent License through the State of California is required and must be maintained through continued education.
  • Handles stressful situations and deadline pressures well.
  • Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction.
  • Possesses negotiation skills, mathematical ability, and general knowledge of health care industry and trends.
  • Knowledge of underwriting and TPA concepts are helpful.
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, excellent verbal and written skills.
  • High level of initiative and works well in team environment.
