BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for representing Safety National in a professional manner consistent with the goals and objectives of the Company and the Business Development Department. To serve as liaison between brokers and underwriters, advocating the position of each, in order to identify production sources and achieve renewal goals within the designated territory.

Regular periodic visits to Safety National production sources.
Service renewal book within appointed territory.
Source and pursue cross sell opportunities within appointed territory.
Source and pursue new business within appointed territory.
Coordinate and direct targeted travel with underwriters within the specified territory.
Identify and participate in relevant regional industry conferences that serve to raise the Company's profile.
Maintain and utilize SalesForce.com database and input all relevant territory information.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of MAP Client Services and possess the ability to present and explain in detail the features and benefits to the client.
Provide trip reports, expense accounts, and monthly metric updates accurately and on a timely basis.
A minimum of 50% travel required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate entertainment functions and activities where appropriate.
Responsible for follow up of all departmental initiatives.
Participate in the service team structure.
Identify and participate in the approval process for new Third Party Administrators.
Assist in the collection of overdue premium when requested.
Review quotes with underwriters to identify where follow up or other participation is most needed.
Work with Underwriting Department to identify desirable cross sell opportunities and maintain renewals in order to achieve new premium and renewal retention goals within the territory. This includes but is not limited to the following:
Collection of and dissemination of pertinent territorial market information throughout the Company.
Establish and maintain a consistent marketing presence within this territory, which includes but is not limited to the following:
Directing and coordinating all Regional Account Manager Activities conducted within territory.
Maintain schedule in Outlook Calendar.
Maintain regular and consistent contact with Region Vice President, Senior Vice President of Business Development, Marketing Information Manager and other Business Development Department personnel.
Adhere to Company travel guidelines when planning business related trips.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Able to work independently with limited supervision.
5-7 Years’ Experience with Insurance Carrier, Broker or Third Party Administrator.
College Degree Required.
Experience with Workers’ Compensation and affiliated lines as an insurance product.
Experience with alternative funding concepts for workers’ compensation (i.e. Deductibles, Retrospective Rating, and Self-Insurance).
Working knowledge of the insurance broker network in the territory.
Experience or aptitude for insurance sales.
Strong organizational skills.
Self-motivated work ethic.
Strong communication skills.
Ability and willingness to travel on a frequent basis.
Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and experience with sales database software.
