GENERAL SUMMARY:
In this role, your primary responsibility is ensuring that Risk Engineering regulatory compliance requirements are met in states that mandate various Risk Engineering Services for all State Auto Insurance Companies. You will also manage the quality assurance program for internal, commercial, field staff personnel. You may be called upon to perform additional Risk Engineering special projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities – Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that state mandated appropriate services are provided including: policyholder evaluations of need for services, policyholder notification of loss prevention services and annual loss run and analysis distribution.
- Gather, manage, and submit on time all data required for state annual reporting requirements.
- Prepare and present all required documentation for state audits. Individual may be required to attend state audits onsite (i.e. travel to TX).
- Keeps abreast of all regulatory changes and communicates with all affected disciplines.
- Ensure that all personnel providing appropriates services are qualified/certified by the state to provide accident prevention services (per state mandates).
- Provide leadership team with state regulatory findings, results, and/or updates as needed.
Key Responsibilities – Quality Assurance:
- Develop and manage the quality assurance program for the internal, commercial, field staff.
- Perform quality reviews of field staffs’ risk evaluations and communicates results to individuals.
- Collaborate with Territory Directors and Technical team to enhance the department’s quality assurance and training programs.
- Actively participate in the coaching and performance management process.
- Observe all company safety and health rules and apply these in all day-to-day activities.
- Exhibit positive demeanor and professional behavior toward coworkers, clients and customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Experience/Education:
Must be certified to provide Risk Engineering services in all states that mandate certification (i.e. Arkansas - must be an approved Field Safety Representative (FSR)).
BA/BS in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Science or equivalent experience with a professional industry designation (e.g., CSP, ALCM, CFPS, ARM, etc.).
Minimum of 3 years of Risk Engineering / Loss Control experience.
Communication and Collaboration Skills:
Professional oral and written communication skills are critical to the success of this position.
Ability to effectively communication with tact, diplomacy and courtesy across multiple levels of business partners, clients and agents.
Must be able to collaborate and develop strong team relationships with associates from within and outside the Risk Engineering Department.
Very strong presentation skills.
Very strong negotiation skills.
Technical Knowledge:
Working knowledge of state regulatory requirements.
Strong technical knowledge of industrial trends, developments, current standards and regulations.
Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Gather facts and draw conclusions, interpret complex requirements/issues and work independently.
The individual must be able to identify and implement key opportunities while researching potential solutions.
