Branch Underwriting Support Specialist


SUMMARY:

Job responsibilities include performing complex processing duties and providing underwriting assistance following specific guidelines as assigned by management under general supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs complex processing responsibilities as assigned within the department.

2. Verifies all required underwriting information is available on new business.

3. Communicates with agents and others in obtaining required information for underwriting.

4. Organizes new business into electronic system work flow.

5. Reviews and handles routine renewal and endorsement business and assigns to underwriting as required.

6. Orders, reviews and prepares inspections for underwriting.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

1. Trains others as needed.

2. Assists with other specialized duties as assigned within the department.

EDUCATION:

A two-year associate’s degree or substantial processing/underwriting knowledge is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Substantial insurance experience along with familiarity of established systems and underwriting procedures.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to use good judgment in making decisions. Ability to communicate and work harmoniously with others. Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance in meeting a defined work schedule and deadlines. Ability to maintain a professional business image.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Those activities associated with general office work including, but not limited to, sitting, talking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is generally performed in an office setting.
