This position utilizes appropriate business classifications and rates for new business, endorsements and renewal premiums for farm accounts and Agri-business by utilizing manual and automated rating systems, schedules, equipment (CRTs), and information as necessary to determine premium for routine to moderately complex casualty or property risk. It refers highly complex or unusual risks to senior CSBP personnel or the appropriate underwriter. The incumbent will gather information from inspection reports, photos or from telephone discussions with agents and identify inconsistent or incorrect information and communicates these issues to the appropriate underwriter. The individual may be asked to train new or current staff on office and rating procedures.  This position reports to a CSBP Supervisor and may receive direction from higher level CSBP or underwriting staff.

Qualifications: 

The individual particularly suited for this position must use initiative and judgment; should be extremely well organized and be able to meet critical deadlines; be able to recognize problem files and notify of underwriting issues, compose correspondence from past knowledge or brief instruction; calculate rates with accuracy and speed using a calculator or 10 key. The person must establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

The individual should have basic mathematical skills; use correct English, including grammar, punctuation or vocabulary; should have knowledge of standard office administrative and secretarial practices and procedures; including filing and business letter writing.

Education & Experience: 

To be considered the person must posses basic insurance principles and practices, including rating structures such as ISO. This position requires the equivalent of high school with three years of general clerical or rating experience.
