The Role:
We are looking for the following skill set: technical research; written and oral communication; critical thinking and problem solving; independence and dependability; and, interpersonal and relationship building capability.

Our ideal candidate is highly organized and a strong communicator who is capable of directly managing a docket of auto insurance claim files while interacting with all levels of claims personnel, management and internal and external counsel. What you will be doing:
• Directly manage external counsel representing the Company in a variety of claims-related matters such as extra-contractual exposures, examinations under oath and declaratory actions.
• Interact with the Claims management and the Office of General Counsel in order to ensure efficient claims handling and compliance with company litigation management guidelines. –
• Provide analysis of litigated matters and evaluation of exposure to claims management.
• Work with the Office of General Counsel and Claims management to help research, design and deploy claims-related regulatory compliance initiatives and participate in classroom training of Claims personnel.
• Interact with Claims management to analyze insurance coverage, liability and damages.
• Participate in mediations and negotiating settlements.
• Draft reservation of rights and coverage denial letters.
• Draft case summary reports to effectuate proper reserves and preparation for trial.
• Review subpoenas deuces tecum

Requirements:
• J.D. from an accredited law school, with a strong academic record
• Admission to a state bar with an active license in good standing required
• 2-5 years of insurance defense experience (auto policyholder defense experience preferred)
• Strong command and understanding of civil procedure, tort law and auto insurance coverage
• Adaptability to growing and changing responsibilities as need arises while maintaining a very positive attitude.
