Risk Engineering Consultant & Business Analyst

Summary & Key Responsibilities​​:

​This position is responsible for leading and managing risk engineering (loss control) commercial technical initiatives - including: project management, technology and innovation, and training within and outside the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project management: develop and lead projects of varying size and scope both within the department and across the enterprise. Delivers projects in scope and on time.
• Technology: research, test, promote and enhance department’s ongoing technological initiatives, while actively pursuing opportunities for emerging technologies and innovation (i.e. alternative means of inspections).
• Training program: manage associate onboarding training and departmental staffs’ technical development programs.
• Work in partnership with underwriting to identify and enhance risk selection and account retention through effective risk engineering practices.
• Work in partnership with underwriting and claims teammates on post-loss analysis to identify opportunities for account or process improvement.
• Collaborate with co-workers by assisting in areas where and when needed.
• Actively participate in personal goal setting and in the coaching and performance management process.
• Act as a mentor/coach to other team members to provide clear and concise direction and training
• Observe all company safety and health rules and apply these in all day-to-day activities
• Exhibit positive demeanor and professional behavior toward coworkers, clients and customers.
• Performs other responsibilities assigned by department Director.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience/Education:

Minimum of seven (7) years of insurance industry experience required. Commercial Risk Engineering (Loss Control) experience desired. Prior project management experience. Prior experience leading projects or initiatives of varying size or scope. Experience with training program development.

Communication and Collaboration Skills:

Professional oral and written communication skills are critical to the success of this position. All Risk Engineering service must be handled with tact, diplomacy and courtesy at all times.  Excellent oral and written communications skills required for report documentation and preparation. Ability to effectively communication with tact, diplomacy and courtesy across multiple levels of business partners, clients and agents  Excellent presentation skills. Excellent negotiation skills. Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable record. This is a field-based job and may require up to 25% overnight travel

Technical Knowledge:

Excellent technical knowledge of industrial trends, developments, current standards and regulations. Excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong project management skills.

Problem Solving: 

Gather facts and draw conclusions, interpret complex requirements/issues and work independently. The individual must be able to identify and implement key opportunities while researching potential solutions.
