Position Overview:
Underwriter will handle new and renewal underwriting activities for multiple lines of commercial and personal business within FiRMS, primarily Flood, Excess Flood & Joint Underwriting Program JUP. As a member of our underwriting team you will work in support of underwriters on larger, more complex applications in all assigned lines such as AOAO flood applications and Fleet JUP applications. You will also assist in development of procedures in automation of FiRMS activities.
Responsibilities:
- Underwriters are responsible for the process, validation, and underwriting of renewals
- You will rate, quote, and issue renewal policies
- Exist as a back up underwriter for JUP
- Senior Underwriters will operate as Subject Matter Experts (SME) for process improvement projects
Position Requirements:
- 4 year college degree or equivalent
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Hawaii Driver’s License with clean abstract
- Minimum 1-2 yrs of related work experience for associate underwriters; 3-5 yrs for the Underwriter role; 5+ yrs for the Senior Underwriter role including multi-line experience with an emphasis on commercial lines.
- Familiarity/ Working knowledge of Vision and Ice systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Applied Vision software
- Hawaii Producers license or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Industry recognized certification
- Participation in insurance industry organizations
