Job Description

The Field Product Management Organization (FPMO) makes business decisions for a line of insurance or defined marketplace which appropriately consider product, pricing and risk management levers. They evaluate the opportunities and challenges in the marketplace and build strategies to address them while ensuring integration with other business units to achieve growth and profitability objectives.

The Territory Product Manager (TPM) leads the team in achieving profit and growth targets for an assigned state/region or line(s) of business. Designs, develops, manages and leads strategies, initiatives, and people using product, pricing, and risk management skills to achieve business goals.

The major components of the TPM role include:

1. Profitable Growth

a) Leverages team to lead strategies contributing to market share growth and profitability by analyzing multiple data sets to make recommendations on pricing, risk management guidelines and product development.

b) Supports and oversees the development/design of new plans, programs, processes and/or product features to solve market specific issues/opportunities.

c) Leads work focused on analyzing and measuring the effective execution of distribution strategies, which may include production and quality metrics, quote/close ratio analysis and agency level measures.



2. Product Implementation

a) Manages the integration and coordination of the communication and delivery of planned changes, projects and products into the field.

b) Consults with resources from various areas of responsibility to gain the necessary expertise and alignment to successfully complete end-to-end projects/assignments.

c) Manages preparations and the delivery of project status communications/presentations to Product leadership and other key Regional and Home Office stakeholders.



3. Compliance

a) Ensures appropriate processes are in place for all aspects of product management compliance and correct classification.



4. Competitive Intelligence

a) Manages the analysis of the competitive landscape to inform rate, risk management and product initiatives and recommendations.



5. Development of People

a) Leverages business acumen, technical ability and industry experience to train, coach and lead others.

b) Creates and executes highly focused performance management and development plans to enhance skillsets of employees and future leaders.


Job Qualifications

Bachelors degree; 5+ years of related experience.

Strong understanding of product, price, risk management and insurance regulation concepts, with working knowledge of lines, rate plans and product offerings.

Ability to plan, implement, manage, and/or sponsor projects of medium/high complexity and/or medium/large scale key initiatives using accepted project management standards.

Strong ability to influence along with excellent decision making, collaboration and relationship building skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel, SQL, Visual Basic, Access, Word, and PowerPoint and/or other modern data analysis systems.

Advanced written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate specialized terms and data.

Working knowledge of current industry standards/environment.
