Auto Claims Manager - Chicago
Profitable and growing Property and Casualty Insurance carrier is seeking an Auto Claims Manager for their office in Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will have a strong background in analyzing and managing the claims process including reserving, litigation, claim trends etc. Duties include ensuring appropriate claim outcomes through consistent execution of quality claims handling practices. This position oversees claims arising out of a personal non standard auto environment and will manage both bodily injury and physical damage units.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the assignment of claims, identifies potential coverage issues and provides technical direction along with ongoing guidance to staff.
- Analyzes the claims process data to ensure productivity, service and technical accuracy standards are met.
- Completes regular claims file reviews to verify consistent claims handling efforts are being achieved and that those efforts fall within company guidelines.
- Ensures that appropriate claim reserves are established and communicated in a timely manner.
- Assist in bringing escalated issues to closure through effective negotiation, communication and problem solving
- Handles a limited number of complex and sensitive claims as necessary
- Demonstrate technical proficiency through timely, consistent execution of best claim practices and claim oversight practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
- Track record demonstrating effective claims adjusting and supervisory skill.
- Minimum of 5 years of auto claims experience and 5 years of supervisory/management. Exposure to non-standard auto claims is a huge plus.
- A working knowledge state claims handling regulations, contract and coverage interpretation.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and exercise good judgment.
- Computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS office-Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Adjuster Licenses are required
- Strong litigation management skills are preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate in person, over the phone and in writing.
