Chemonics is recruiting for an Insurance Manager to join the Global Health and Supply Chain Office's (GHSCO's) Finance and Compliance (F&C) Division to ensure compliance with project insurance requirements and coordination with Chemonics corporate insurance policies. The F&C division supports GHSCO to manage the office’s finances and provide compliance guidance and oversight of contracts. The Insurance Manager will work with the Lead Compliance Director and Lead Risk Manager to continually assess GHSCO project-specific insurance needs and ensure that additional policies are identified and added to manage Chemonics and client risk.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Represent GHSCO by liaising with the home office (HO) divisions related to risk management and insurance coverage for all aspects of project operations with a focus on the health and supply chain projects

  • Understand corporate policy provisions and establish standard operating procedures for review, claims, and information management with the Chemonics HO Insurance team

  • Coordinate with GHSCO project teams and field offices to document specific project insurance requirements, identify and analyze risks associated with policies, identify exclusions and gaps, especially regarding specific contract terms and conditions of GHSCO projects vs. corporate policies

  • Review needs for additional policies or changes to policies, both corporate and billable, and provide recommendations to GHSCO and HO leadership

  • Work with Chemonics HO to draft solicitation requirements for corporate-level policies and participate in solicitation management teams. Manage insurance applications, as required, to ensure that all questions have been answered, compiling data on insurance policy changes, track insurance renewal/termination dates and requirements, and processing insurance cancellations as requested by project teams or corporate

  • Manage insurance policy records in coordination with project teams

  • For GHSCO specific policies or in coordination with HO insurance team, process GHSCO insurance policies, modifications to existing policies and claim forms with various insurance brokers and/or underwriters

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with insurance brokers if required. Coordinate meetings, discussions, and negotiations with brokers, Chemonics and/or project leadership as necessary

  • Manage claim submissions for project submissions against corporate policies and provide oversight and guidance to project teams, including the following tasks:

    • Process claims and proactively manage individual claims from notification to closure, with the necessary level of involvement required for each claim depending on the claim category, value, and impact on project activities

    • Coordination with Chemonics HO for booking of liabilities and claim payments

  • Foster and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation, and exceeding expectations

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of technically relevant work experience, in areas such as insurance, logistics, procurement, contracts, finance or operations

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required

  • English fluency required; proficiency in a second language preferred

  • Knowledge of company’s main client and/or international development operations preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing

  • Willingness to work overseas for up to 4 to 8 weeks per year; experience living or working in developing countries preferred

  • Strong administrative skills, word processing abilities, knowledge of MS Office applications, and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated the ability to follow standard practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision on work progress, and make a significant contribution to end results

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organizational and work prioritization skills

  • Supervisory experience required
