What You’ll Do: As a Property Claims Representative, you will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating and settling assigned claims involving property lines of insurance coverage (farm, home, apartment and commercial). You must investigate the cause of the loss, interpret the policy, and determine whether the loss is covered and if Farm Bureau should pay the claim. You will also determine the value of the loss and assist in setting reasonable reserves. As a Property Claims Representative, you must keep a service-oriented attitude at all times by maintaining professional and productive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, agents, agency managers, claimants, policyholders, engineers, restoration specialists, general contractors, attorneys, and others. You will work out of your home, but will cover surrounding territories.
What It Takes to Join Our Team:
- College or equivalent plus 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Insurance, agriculture, and basic building material knowledge is helpful.
- Must be able to work under all kinds of weather conditions and fully appraise all physical aspects of the property and buildings, which includes climbing on ladders.
- Strong computer skills are required in order to quickly learn our multiple systems.
- A valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records are required. Must have the ability to travel (approx. 50% or more during storm season), including some travel with overnight stays. A company vehicle is provided.
- Must be able to work out of a home office, with daily travel accounting for approximately 25-50% of the time.
- Must attend training schools as required.
- This position will be located in North Central Iowa – including but not limited to Hardin, Franklin, Wright, Hamilton, Story, and Marshall counties.
