Department: Claim Consulting Services Department
Job Summary: Responsible for providing exceptional claims and risk management customer service to clients of Conner Strong & Buckelew. The Claim Consulting Services Department services clients from the following disciplines: Life Sciences, Healthcare, Construction, Manufacturing, OCIP’s, Public Entity, Education, Social Services, Hospitality & Gaming, Real Estate and Professional Services .
Principal Responsibilities:
- Functions as integral member of client’s claim & risk management team.
- Is a liaison between client and carrier.
- Creates a specific “Claim Service Plan” for each client.
- Creates and Negotiates with Carrier/TPA or Wholesaler the specific Special Claim Servicing Requirements unique to each client.
- Builds a relationship with each of their clients.
- Provides client advocacy to ensure the best result for the client.
- Conducts analysis on each claim for financial impact to client and company.
- Manages multiple lines of coverage for each and every client.
- Acts as a subject matter expert with claims issues
- Works independently and makes independent decisions based on broader knowledge level.
- Develops close working relationship with Account Team members, Senior Account Executive, Account Executive, Account Manager, CSR and Production personnel.
- Provides Account Team with Pre-Renewal, New Business claim materials, including data analysis.
- Accompanies Account Team members on prospect calls when necessary.
- Position may require overnight travel, to include helicopter, plane & train travel.
- Is a liaison for Conner Strong & Buckelew with the various carriers, wholesalers and third party administrators and outside vendors with whom we interact.
Other Functions
- Keeps updated in industry trends and coverage changes
- Works on and negotiates special claims projects
- Updates Claim Consultant Service Plan calendars
- Provides “back-up” to other Consultants who are unavailable due to PTO, etc
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of insurance industry experience in claims and/or risk management positions.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Must have the ability to be flexible and be available 24/7.
- Must stay abreast of changes in Insurance industry.
- Must be able to travel out of town via plane, train, or auto and visit client sites.
- Must be organized and detail-oriented and possess a positive attitude.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Must possess excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills.
Specialized Knowledge or Licenses:
- Valid Property & Casualty License
- Pursuit of Risk Management Degree, CPCU, AIC, or ARM designations preferred
- Valid Driver’s License
