Legal Specialist Senior

General Summary: 

Timely completion of opinions, issuance of coverage opinions, managing database of coverage opinions issued and providing training. Assist with other projects, as requested. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Timely completion of referrals
a. Coverage counsel shall analyze and issue an opinion within thirty (30) days of receiving completed coverage referral. 

2. Issuance of opinions
a. All opinions shall be categorized and housed in a database with other opinions.
b. Opinions shall be concise, answer the issue(s) presented and provide recommendations as to next steps.
c. It is expected that coverage attorney will conduct follow up discussions with CARE staff to clarify the issue(s) to be reviewed and make sure all documentation necessary to complete the referral is provided.

3. Managing Database of Coverage Opinions
a. Coverage counsel shall be primarily responsible for populating and updating database of coverage opinions.
b. Updating shall be completed on a weekly basis.

4. Research, Draft and Deliver Training
a. Coverage counsel shall assist managing coverage counsel with preparing and administering training for CARE staff, as needed.
b. Coverage counsel shall complete other research assignments, as requested, to support training needs, including recent developments in the law by jurisdiction to complete jurisdictional surveys that will be used as a training and reference resource for CARE organization.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience/Education: A JD Degree, plus one to five years of professional experience, specifically including insurance coverage work. Experience within the insurance or financial services industries is preferred.

Communication and Collaboration Skills: Written: Superior writing, editing and presentation development skills. Ability to prepare concise opinions and recommendations.

Oral: Outstanding verbal communication with any audience, including the ability to understand and be understood by the audience.

Problem Solving: This position will require the individual to interpret complex requirements/issues and work independently. The individual must be able to identify and implement key opportunities while researching potential solutions.
